Frances Miene

Funeral services for Frances Miene were held Tuesday, February 2, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Frances Augusta Miene, daughter of Albert and Minnie (Winters) Gilson was born February 28, 1912 at Luana, Ia. She died Saturday, January 30, 1988 in the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, Ia.

She was baptized June 23, 1929. She attended the little red school house in Volney and also Waukon High School.

November 23, 1932 she married Fred Miene at Waukon. They had 5 children. They farmed in the Luana area. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since April 2, 1939 and also a member of the LCW. She was a member of the Grand Meadow Country Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, who died March 27, 1965 and one sister, Geneva Wahls.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Dotseth, Decorah, Mrs. Marlin (Erma Jean) Swenson, Postville; 3 sons, Harold and his wife Sharon, Willard and his wife Karla, and Wayne and his wife Karen, all of Luana; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lois Moose, Monona, Alice Rooney, Boscobel, WI and Hazel Beisker, Littleton, CO.

Casket bearers were Albert Moose, Dennis Rooney, Ewald Walch, Mark Beisker, Allen Wahls, William Miene, Jr. and Harold Walch.
