Elkader Register, Fri., 22 Feb. 1884. Littleport column.

Another recent tragedy is the accidental death of Wm. Callaway, son-in-law of our old citizen John Nading. From what we can learn Mr. Callaway had made arrangements to go east on Monday to remain permanently, and, while coming down stairs fell, and it is supposed broke his neck, or death may have been caused by a fit, to which he was subject.

Note: His death was entered Clayton County Register of Deaths, Book 1, pg 36; "body delivered to friends"
