Elkader Register, Fri., 22 Feb. 1884.

DIED - On Wednesday, Feb. 13th, 1884, Miss Lena Meyer, daughter of Mrs. D. H. Meyer. The funeral occurred on Sunday, Feb. 17th, from the German Lutheran church, Rev. Summerler officiating. Miss Meyer was confined to her bed about three weeks, during which time she was a patient sufferer and an endearing charge to her kind friends and relation who watched over he during her short illness. Finally the grim reaper, Death, came and departed, taking to that home eternal the spirit of one whom all loved that knew her, Lena Meyer. The bereaved mother and sorrowing friends have the sympathy of their many acquaintances, who, while with them mourn, say with them "Tis well, she's from earth's sorrows freed."
