Mrs. S. Smith, of Monona, died on the 8th inst.

Susan Smith was born at Smithfield, Rhode Island, July 13, 1796; died at the residence of her son-in-law, S.H. Buck, National, January 8th, 1880, aged 83 years, 5 months and 26 days.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Methodist church for about sixty years. Her end was peace. The funeral services were held at the National M.E. church on the 11th, conducted by Rev. Cummings, the sermon being from the text, Psalms xxlv, 4 - "He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully."
A large concourse of people were in attendance to pay the last sad rites to the memory of a dear departed Christian mother.
