Elkader Register, Fri., 17 Mar. 1898. Garnavillo column.
Last Thursday, while Mrs. William Hill was sewing at her home, she was thrown into a fit of convulsions, to which she had been subject for some time past, and fell on the floor striking her head on the floor with such force as to cause almost instant death. All that medical aid could do to restore life was done, but it was of no avail - her spirit had fled. Mrs. Hill, the wife of William Hill, was an old pioneer of Garnavillo, and died at nearly 81 years. She was born in Germany on April 23, 1817. In 1847 she was married to William Hill, from which union resulted three children, Mrs. Joseph Sigg, of Lincoln, Nebr., and two sons, William and Henry, both deceased. In 1851 Mr. and Mrs. Hill imigrated to America, settling at Buffalo, N.Y. They arrived at Garnavillo in 1860, and have resided here ever since. May the God of comfort sustain the aged husband and the bereaved daughter in this sad affliction.
