Elkader Register, Fri., 24 May 1895. Local columns.

Ed. Emory, an inmate of the county home, who had been working for Wm. Smith, of this twp., for some time past, was found dead in his bed Tuesday morning. The cause of death is thought to have been heart disease. Emory had eaten a hearty supper Monday evening, taken his smoke and retired apparently in good health. He was about 64 years of age. Coroner Kriebs was summoned to view the remains.
