On Sunday morning Freda Uecker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Uecker, of this place, was called from life unto death. She was born Nov. 11, 1881, and was in her fourteenth year when thus called. About three weeks ago she was taken with the mumps and had apparently recovered when a complication set in which resulted in an abcess of the liver which proved beyond medical skill. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F. I. Stevens, and largely attended by friends, her teachers, schoolmates, and the Junior Epworth League of which she was a member. These came with a profusion of flowers by which they endeavored to attest their love for the dear departed. Kind friends also endeavored to rob the grave of its terrors by hiding the ground with cloth and evergreens. Six of her young friends, Carrie and Lizzie Schmidt, Hilda Grotewohl, Florence Munger, Neddie Gifford and Annie Stemmer, served as pall bearers. The sympathy of all goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Uecker and family in their sorrow.
