Elkader Register, Thur., 21 Mar. 1895.

On Tuesday, March 12th, at his home in Giard twp., occurred the death of Peter Farley, one of the highly respected citizens of Clayton county. Mr. Farley was born in Ireland June 10th, 1826. In 1843 he came to the United States from Canada where he had resided since his 7th year. After a residence in California of about three years he came to Iowa and purchased the farm upon which he resided for 41 years. In 1856 he was married to Julia Phillips; eight children were born to this union, six of whom are living; Nettie B., wife of W. D. Spaulding, residing in California; William C., at home; May, wife of Lyzander Huff, residing at Renville, Minn.; Ray E., Agnes and Maud, at home. The funeral was held on Friday from the family residence near Giard, the service being held at the German M.E. church by Rev. Mr. Smith, of Monona.
