Elkader Register, Thur., 21 Mar. 1895.

Mrs. Elizabeth Koester died at McGregor Monday, March 11, 1895, aged 72 years. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Jos. Gerich, and during the winter enjoyed good health until about a week preceding her death. She was born in Westphalia, Germany, Jan. 12, 1823, and came to America with her parents when quite young. Her father, Henry Lueneman, was an early settler of Guttenberg. She was married 29 years ago to Bernard Koester, who died 14 years ago. She has been living in McGregor during the past five years. Two children, Theodore Koester, agent at Mederville for the C.M. & St. P. R.R. Co., and Mary Gerich, survive her. Her remains were brought to Guttenberg and placed beside her departed husband in the Catholic cemetery Thursday afternoon. - Guttenberg News.
