Elkader Register, Thur., 28 Dec. 1893.

Died - At his home near St. Sebald, on Dec. 15th, Andrew Schmidt aged 75 years. He was born in the dukedom of Saxon, Mieningen, Germany, Dec. 15, 1817. He died on the anniversary of his birth of a cancer in the throat, which had been troubling him all summer. He was a man highly respected and loved. Three sisters went before him across the dark river, Mrs. Stempf, Mrs. Hidinger, of this vicinity, and Mrs. Miller, of Williamsburg, N.Y. He leaves a wife, one son, and one brother, George, to mourn his loss.
