F. W. Engel, 75, Dies in Rockwell

Fritz W. (Fred) Engel, 75, retired farm laborer, died Monday at a Rockwell nursing home. He had lived in Rockwell the last 10 years.

Mr. Engel was born April 19, 1884, at Elkader, son of John and Sophia (Arndt) Engel. He was married to Murrel [sic] Elizabeth Funk, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Millieda) McDonald, Charles City, and Mrs. Carl (Marie) Sutter, Algona; two sons, Philip Engel, Fairbanks, and Melvin Engel, Skamania, Wash., eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Two sisters, Bertha Moorehead, Rockwell, and Sophia Dahlstrom, Janesville, and a brother, Carl Engel, Nora Springs, also survive. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, a brother and a sister.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Patterson-James Rockwell Chapel is in charge.
