Elkader Register, Thur. 22 Nov. 1894.

Alfred J. Fallowdown, familiarly known as "Uncle Billy," died at McGregor on Friday last, the funeral being held on Sunday. He was born in London, England, Jan. 4, 1821, and came to this country in 1846. In 1852 he came to McGregor, where he was employed by W. H. Harding in the Hotel business. He then came to Elkader and was employed by Robt. Freeman as bookkeeper and deputy recorder. He returned to McGregor in 1876. For many years he has resided at West McGregor. Whole-souled, good-hearted "Uncle Billy" will be mourned and missed by many. Peace to his ashes.
