Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Nov. 1894.
Monday morning the news was telephoned from McGregor that Hon. Gregor McGregor had been found dead in his bed. Later word reached us that he was still living. Such indeed has been proven to be fact. Mr. McGregor was found Monday morning unconscious and thought to be dead but his medical attendants succeeded in retaining life, but not consciousness until an early hour Tuesday morning, when he passed away. The trouble is thought to have been heart disease. Deceased was born at Prairie du Chien, Wis., Aug. 23, 1845, and with his parents came to McGregor in 1847, and has always been closely identified with the interests of that city. He has twice represented the county in the general assembly and was prominent among the republican leaders of the county. Social and friendly to all and always working for his city's interests he will be sincerely mourned and missed. He was unmarried. The funeral takes place to-day.

Note: Burial is in the family lot at Lower Town cemetery, Prairie du Chien, WI
