Elkader Register, Thur., 02 Aug. 1894. Strawberry Point column.

Allie M. Sill Kirk, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H. N. Sill, was born at Hinsdale, New York, Dec. 25, 1855, and died at Strawberry Point July 26, 1894, at 8:15 a.m. She came to Strawberry Point with her parents in October, 1867. During the winter of 1872-3 she attended the U.I.U. at Fayette, and in the fall of 1874 she attended Lenox College, Hopkinton. On March 21, 1875, she was married to J. C. Kirk. They lived at Hopkinton from the date of their marriage until the fall of 1881, when they moved to Strawberry Point. Mrs. Kirk was taken sick with dropsy three years ago, since which time she has steadily failed. She had been tapped several times, the first time being in April, 1892. She was at Mercy Hospital, Chicago, in July and August, 1892. She was a member of the Congregational church, of the W.C.T.U. and the Christian Endeavor. In all of these societies she was an earnest and active member until her health compelled her to relinquish the work. She was well known and all knew her in the light of a kind Christian lady. Her husband, daughter Maggie, her mother, and her brother are left lonesome without her. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Buck on Friday, July 27th.
