Elkader Register, Thur., 08 Feb. 1894.
After an illness of some five weeks, at his late residence near Mederville, on the 3d inst., Henry Wacker died in the 50th year of his age. Mr. Wacker was born Dec. 10, 1844, at Brunswick, Germany, and came to the United States when only 7 years of age, and resided at Clayton Center. Feb. 22, 1870, he was united in marriage with Miss Keifer, of Boardman twp., who with fourteen children, the eldest 22 years and the youngest five months old, survive and mourn his loss.
He had by his industry won a competence of this world's goods, and when about to take comfort is called to leave them. it is always thus.
The funeral was held on Tuesday, the services being held in Meder's Hall, Mederville, under the auspices of Bismark Lodge, No. 110, A.O.U.W., of Elkader. The ceremonies consisted of the funeral work of the order by F. W. Hadrick, M.W., and Geo. Wolf, P.M.W., of Bismark, assisted by one hundred members of the order, and a sermon by Rev. F. W. Seifert, of Clayton Center. The attendance was probably the largest ever seen in that vicinity, there being one hundred and nine teams in the line.
