Paul H. Pulfer died Saturday, May 30, at the University of Iowa Hospital. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time, a memorial service will be held at a later date. It was his wish to donate his body to the University of Iowa for medical education and research.
He was born March 13, 1926, at the home on his parent's farm in Clayton County, rural Elgin, the son of Gottlieb and Bertha (Ruch) Pulfer. He attended country school and graduated from Elgin High School in 1942.
On March 17, 1951 Paul married Evelyn Welti in Rockville, Conn.
Paul farmed his entire life, as long as his health permitted. He was a Highland Township Assessor for 39 years. He had a special interest in land conservation and studying and enjoying nature.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, his five children, Audrey, Trudy, David, Kathy and Kent, 19 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marian in 1941.
