Cora Adeline (Hanson) Frieden died at the Community Hospital in Pampa, TX, December 30, 1990. She was hospitalized a few days and diagnosed as having cancer. She had been in failing health and was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Evanille and Melcin Clark.

Cora was born February 25, 1902, daughter of Henry and Kari (Berg) Hanson in rural Fairfax, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended the rural school.

She had four brothers and two sisters. When she was eight years old her mother died and her father later married Randine (Gilbertson) Haughley. She then had three stepbrothers and two stepsisters. Later there were two half-brothers and a half-sister.

On December 9, 1922, she married Emil Frieden of Elgin, in her parent's home at rural Fairfax, MN. They then moved to a farm in the rural Elgin area. They became the parents of a son Dwayne and a daughter Evanille.

They farmed until the fall of 1951 when they went to visit their daughter and family in Pampa, TX, and decided to stay and make Pampa their home. Cora worked for the Pampa Tent and Awning Company for 25 years, retiring at the age of 80.

She was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church, transferring her membership to Zion Lutheran in Pampa in 1952.

Her husband, Emil, died May 23 1962, and her son, Dwayne, August 20, 1980.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Evanille and Melvin Clark; her daughter-in-law, Geraldine Frieden, Elgin; four grandchildren: Kent Clark, Cindy Graves and husband, Carl, Pampa; Carol Ann Kovarik and husband, Leon, Center Point; Layne Frieden and wife, Barb, Elgin; six great grandchildren: Susan Beckett, John and Tami Graves, Pampa; Doug, Aam and Kristi Frieden, Elgin; her sister, Bernice Dennler, Elgin; brother, Spencer Hanson, Lafayette, MN; a half-brother, Harley Hanson, Fairfax, MN; half-sister, Ethel Jackson, Roseville, MN; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Hanson, Velva, ND; Irene (Hanson) Owens, Billings, MT, and Elsie Hanson, St. Paul, MN; and man nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, stepmother, three step-brothers, two stepsisters, brothers: Clarence, Albert and Elmer Hanson; her sister, Mabel Dahl and half-brother, Oren Hanson.

She donated her body to medical science. Interment of ashes will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Elgin, at a later date with a memorial service.
