Ida Ella Heins, 72, of Luana, Iowa died Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa.
Ida Ella was born on December 4, 1949 to Florence Mueller in rural Luana, Iowa. She grew up living on the family farm, where she and her siblings spent their time playing and farming. She attended Eno Country School.
Ida loved spending time with family, especially her great grandchildren. She enjoyed gathering walnuts, cleaning them and picking them from the shell and jarring them up with her sister, Rose. Ida played bingo in Ossian, McGregor, Harpers Ferry and Postville. Randy made a comment once “ bingo nots worth it” and Ida replied “don’t worry about it”, laughs happened. She also enjoyed gambling at Miss Marquette River Boat and in Dubuque, Iowa. She was a huge fan of Elvis and would go to Elvis impersonator shows, Ronnie Craig was her all time favorite. Watching dirt track racing that her family was a highlight for her, and her favorite non family racer was Dan Bohr. Her favorite Nascar driver was Dale Earnhardt. Ida made time to take family to their appointments and school. She even took Annie and Ashlee to get their driving permits. She also volunteered at the Postville Food Shelf. Ida enjoyed watching the bald eagles and would sit and go through old clothing and cut off the buttons.
Ida accepted Christ as her personal Savior on June 25, 2018 and publicly made a profession of faith by getting baptized on August 26, 2018 in the Mississippi River by Pastor Andy Doll of the Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin
Surviving Ida are her three children, Randy Joe Heins of Monona, Iowa, Patricia Ann Heins of Luana, Iowa and Neil Joe Heins (Laura Lubka) of Monona, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Jennifer M. Heins of Monona, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Alicia, Erin and Morgan Heins, Ashlee (Anthony) Martin, Annie Heins (Austin), Jonathon Heins and Nattalee Heins; five great-grandchildren and her sister, Rose Marie Heins of Postville, Iowa.
Ida was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Mueller; daughter, Donna Heins; sister, Joyce Green; brother-in-law, Karl Green; niece, Connie Green and one brother, Harlan Heins.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa with Rev. Erika Lenth as the officiant.
A Private Family Burial will follow at Eno Cemetery.
