Elkader Register, Thur., 29 Nov. 1923.
A telegram received here Monday forenoon by George Wareham, Sr., from Oldham, South Dakota, brought the sad news that his son Conrad was killed in an automobile accident early Sunday morning while the young man was on his way to Oldham. The machine which he was driving capsized, crushing him underneath. When found Mr. Wareham was dead.
Conrad Wareham was born March 2, 1890, at Elkader, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Wareham. He spent practically all his life here in this community; at numerous times he assisted in the harvest fields in the Dakotas and Montana.
He is survived by his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Wareham, three brothers, John, Francis and George, three sisters, Florence Calwell, Phoebe Stevens and Julia Heiden, also many friends who mourn his passing.
The remains of the unfortunate young man arrived here Tuesday forenoon and were taken to the home of his parents.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Thanksgiving Day) at 10:00 o'clock at St. Joseph's church, with Rev. Father Taken officiating and interment will be made in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Our sympathy goes out to the sorrowing family.
