L. S. Fisher, prominent citizen of Clayton County, passed away at the home of his daughter,Mrs. Lewis Tieden, in Cox Creek township, Tuesday night after a lingering illness of several months duration.
Mr. Fisher was born in the state of Pennsylvania, April 8, 1855, a son of Thomas and Eliza Fisher. When three years of age he came with his parents to Iowa. When a young man Mr. Fisher went to Kansas, residing there several years and in the fall of 1876 he returned to Clayton County and engaged in agriculture and became the owner of a fine tract of land in Lodomillo township.
On December 30, 1880, he was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Hesner and to this union eight children were born: Leonard L., Lyle, Frank, Nellie, married to Nicholas Lang, Mabel, married to Irving Hindal, Grace, married to Lewis Tieden, Ruth, married to Fred Kopp, and Fred, who resides on the home place.
Mr. Fisher was for a number of years assessor of Lodomillo township and for 6 years he was a member of the board of supervisors of Clayton County.
For the past several years Mr. Fisher was closely connected with the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation as organizer and lecturer.
The remains of Mr. Fisher were taken from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lewis Tieden to the old home farm near Edgewood yesterday, where the funeral services will be held.
He was affiliated with the lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons at Edgewood, and was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
