Elkader Register, Thur., 23 Aug. 1923.

Frederick C. H. Reimer

The subject of this sketch was born in Grielwald, Germany, April 25th, 1841. He came as a young man to this land of promise and remained two years in Illinois, where he married Fredericka Dannenfeldt. He and his young wife came to Elkport, where he worked for a short time for Mr. Tiede. He then arranged to own some land, and got the farm in Lodomillo township, where he lived continuously until his death, August 12th, 1923.

Mr. Reimer in his life represented the best type of good men who emigrated to America from Germany in that early period. He had all the virtues of his race and by the exercise of thrift and industry accumulated a competence consisting of 220 acres of land and other property.

This couple were blessed by five sons: Chas., of Littleport, Fred, now living at Oneida, George of Brooks, Mont., and Paul, who always lived with his father on the home place. The other son, William, died in 1907, his widow, Anna remained in the household and maintained the same so that Mr. Reimer had every comfort of life during his last years.

He was an especially kind father and grandfather. This is shown by his marked attention to the two children of the deceased son, Wiliam, who always lived in the home with him. He was an honest man and did his part in all walks of life which he trod. A good citizen, a man whose service was sought in various offices in his community, many times being called to serve on juries and grand juries to mete out justice to his fellow citizens. His qualities won him the respect of all those who knew him.

A Friend.
