Elkader Register, Thur., 21 June 1923. Read column.

God, who is really not God of the dead, but of the living, has called an aged, weary mother, out of the land of sadness, to the land of gladness, out of a life of adversity to a life of prosperity, out of time to eternity. Indeed what our heavenly Father did was well done. Our departed sister passed away, Thursday, June 14, 1923, at 10:30 a.m. Barbara Bucheim, nee Schobert, saw this world's light May 2, 1845, at Weissenstadt, Bavaria, Germany. Her life ran its regular course under the bright sunshine of God's saving grace. She was married to Mr. Karl Bucheim, who preceded her in death 31 years ago. This union was blessed with eight children. It was the paternal will of God to call this aged mother away full of years and satisfied with life. Her long life-time was filled with labor and toil and the last rest of her earthly pilgrimage was full of grave sickness. Like a shock of full matured corn she is gathered into the heavenly garner. She is survived by her devoted children: Will Bucheim; Augus. Bucheim, of Humbolt, South Dakota; Fred Bucheim; John Bucheim, Read township; Otto Bucheim, Read township; Rudolph Bucheim, living in the state of Oregon; George Bucheim has fallen asleep in infancy; Sophia Bucheim, who died in early childhood. Two step-sons, Henry and Carl Bucheim both residing at Humboldt, South Dakota; and one step-daughter, Margaret Butt at Humboldt, South Dakota, mourn the painful loss of our deceased sister. She reached the age of 78 years, 1 month ad 12 days. Funeral services were held last Sunday, June 17, at the Zions Lutheran church at Clayton Center, Where Rev. Wm. Wuestenberg spoke impressive words of real comfort in German and in the American language. A large crowd paid the last tribute to the dead. She found her last resting place in the cemetery at Clayton Center by the side of her husband. May she rest in peace.

Life's work was done,
Life's race well run
Life's crown well won -
Now comes rest.
