Miss Margaret Takin passed away at the home of her brother, Very Rev. James P. Takin in this city, early Friday morning, April 27.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Takin of Dubuque, where she was born and educated.
She was a woman of sterling character possessing a kind and amiable disposition which won for her a host of sincere friends. For more than thirty years she made her home with her brother, Very Rev. James P. Takin, now pastor of St. Joseph's church of this city.
The funeral was held here on Monday morning at 9:00 o'clock. Rev. James Takin was the celebrant at the Solemn Requiem Mass assisted by Father Minogue as deacon and Father Heatherton as sub-deacon and Father Fitzgerald as Master of Ceremonies. Rev. Father Horsefield delivered a very impressive sermon in which he dwelt upon the Christian and Catholic traits of the deceased. Other clergymen in the Sanctuary wee Father Rooney, Father Casey, Father Hekir, and Father Murtagh. The remains were taken by auto to Dubuque and interred in the family lot at Mt. Olivet.
Besides a host of friends, she leaves to mourn her loss four brothers and four sisters, one of whom is a Sister of Mercy.
(Note: Although this article spells the surname as Takin, in many editions of this same newspaper over a long period the surname is spelled Taken. Submitter has no explanation.)
