Elkader Register, Thur., 26 Apr. 1923.

The death of Cora Estella Patterson, at her home at Ocean Park, California, on Tuesday, April 17th, was told in a message received by relatives here Saturday. She had been in poor health for a number of years.

Cora Estella Patterson was born near Elkader, Iowa, July 10, 1871. Her early life was spent on a farm with her parents. After reaching womanhood she attended and graduated from Dixon, Ill., Business College and followed a business line of work for a few years after graduation.

About 1894 she with her parents and sister moved to Carthage, S. Dak., remaining there until 1910 when she and her mother went to Turlock, Calif., later going to Ocean Park, at which place she continued her residence until the time of her death. The last four years she denied herself the pleasures of life that she might devote her entire time and energy to the care and comfort of her invalid mother.

Possibly in her intense devotion she over reached her strength and laid the foundation for the breaking down of her health which resulted in her passing away at a time when she should have been on the mountain top of usefulness and in the prime of her life.

A sister, the father and her mother have preceded her in death. The sister being called in 1908, the father in 1917 and the mother in 1919. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 51 years, 9 months and 7 days.

Her remains arrived here yesterday afternoon accompanied by her brother, Alvin Patterson, and were taken to the home of A. J. Carpenter, where funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with interment in the East Side Cemetery. Rev. W. J. Warner of the Congregational church officiated.
