James Orvis Gibbs, 88, Strawberry Point, died Saturday, July 5, 1997 at his home after a lengthy illness. There will be no visitation because his body is in the Deeded Body Program of the University of Iowa College of Medicine.

Memorial services will be held in August.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; two daughters: G. Ruth Haan and husband Paul of Parkersburg, Iowa and R. Jane Hazen and husband Rev. Rick of Wagner, South Dakota; four sons: Frank and his wife, Judy and Edward of Strawberry Point; Joe of Cedar Falls and John and his wife Janet of New Albin, Iowa; a brother Leslie Gibbs of Manchester, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
