Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 10 Oct. 1918. St Olaf column.
Memorial services were held in the Norway church in respect to Mr. Theodor Knudson who died so suddenly Sept. 1, in St. Olaf. The audience was very large and the choir from St. Olaf rendered some very appropriate songs. Rev. Arveson preached the sermon in English.
Theodor Knudson was born Feb. 10, 1875, west of St. Olaf, where Mr. Kjosa now lives. His father was Ole Knudson, of the oldest members in the Norway congregation, about ninety years, and his mother was Thora Knudson. Theodor was baptized March 26, 1875, by Rev. Ole Waldeland. The sponsors were Thoren Olson, Jorgen Tollefson and Mrs. Jorend Hegelson. He was confirmed in the Norway church Nov. 10th, 1889. His knowledge of Christianity is marked excellent in our church record. He was married Nov. 22, 1899, at the age of 24 years to Miss Louise Embretson, this union being blessed with two children, Gladys and Vernon. Mr. and Mrs. Knudson have lived in St. Olaf since their marriage, Mr. Knudson being Section boss on the Elkader branch for a number of years, after which he worked in the lumber yard for John Christenson, and the last few years he conducted the furniture store in St. Olaf. He enjoyed good health most of his life until a few days before his death, being sick only a few days. He died Sept 1, and was brought to his last place of rest Monday, Sept. 2. It was indeed a shock not only to his dear family but to us all. Nevertheless we submit to God's will. We know He does all things well. We all sympathize with the bereaved ones. He will be missed, missed for a time, but we do hope to meet him in the Celestial Home above.
