Mrs. Elizabeth Meyer passed from this life Thursday, August 29, at the home of her grand-daughter, Mrs. J. P. Donlon of this city. She was past 85 years and 11 months of age.
Elizabeth Schwartz was born Sept. 29, 1832, in the village of Leeste near Bremen in the province of Hanover.

There was born to them three children, Henry, a resident of Clayton County and Elkader from 1871 to 1903 but now of Chicago; Lizzie, who died in her early womanhood, and a son in infancy.
Her husband having passed away in 1884 she came to Elkader to make her home with her son the same year, and after visiting with her brother's family in California, she returned to Elkader in 1904.
Her son, with his family, in the meantime, having moved to Chicago, she was made the grandma in the family of Dr. J. P. Donlon and his wife, who was the oldest grand-daughter, living with them a long and useful, as well as a happy life, until the day of her death.
The funeral services were held at the Evangelical church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Franke officiating and were largely attended. Interment was in the East Side cemetery.
