Marilyn Anna May Rodgers, 88 passed away Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Marilyn was born October 12, 1933, in Guttenberg, IA the daughter of Oscar and Edith Bismarck. She attended several school in the Iowa, Minnesota & Nebraska. On August 29, 1950 she was united in marriage to Dale Rodgers at the United Methodist Church in Fayette, IA.
She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid bowler and attended several tournaments in Iowa and Reno, NV. She had a large garden with vegetables and flowers her family got to enjoy over the years. She was an excellent cook and shared her canned jellies, tomatoes and beets with family, too. Her favorite holiday was Christmas when her family would be all together with her and enjoy her cooking.
Marilyn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Everyone who knew her will miss her kindness, her generosity, and her love.
We would like to thank Mercy Hospital staff on 4th floor and Iowa City Hospice for all the wonderful care they provided for our mother.
Marilyn is survived by her six children Sue (Dave) Lovell, Atalissa, IA, Randy (Gloria) Rodgers and Michael (Jennifer) Rodgers both of Cedar Valley, IA, Karen (Leland) Gritton of Rochester, IA, Vicki (Randy) Wailand of Tipton, IA and Kris (Chad) Wright of Nichols, IA, Twelve Grandchildren, Eighteen Great-Grandchildren, one Great-Great Grandchild, one sister-in-law Maxine Peters, and one brother-in-law Harold Maser both of Waterloo, IA. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Edith, husband Dale Rodgers, one son Charles Rodgers, two brothers Leslie and Charles Bismarck, sisters-in-laws Doris, Neola, Fonda & Darlene, bothers-in-laws Robert “Bob” and George Rodgers, Le Roy and Harold Ward and one Great-Grand child Anna McAtee.
Her family request memorials to West Branch and West Liberty First Responders in lieu of flowers.
