The funeral services of Mrs. Rilla Hansel were held at the Bethel church on Monday afternoon of last week. Rev. Fred Riggs had charge of the service. Mrs. Hansel was born in Westmoreland county, Virginia, but her parents came to this state when she was only 4 years old and settled on the Hunt farm on the Osterdock - Elkport road. She was married to John G. Hansel in 1871. Six children were born to them, all of whom are living except one. Since her husbands death she lived with her son, George, at Manchester. Her two daughters, Mrs. Fred Hanselman and Miss Pearl Hansel of Waukegan, Ill., and Geo. Hansel and family of Manchester, besides the two children living in this community, Will Hansel and Mrs Will Gray, were here for the funeral. Mr. Kephart and family and Mr. Bruce of Manchester, were also present. The music was furnished by Miss Anna Balz and Mrs. Gladys Homan of Elkport. Doyle, Elvin and Burt Oldham, Palmer Hansel, Marvin Hunt and Will Hansel acted as pall bearers. Mrs. Hansel's death was caused by a cancer of the stomach and occurred late Saturday afternoon.
