Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 16 May 1918.
The death of Eugene, the five-year-old son of Eugene Connor, of Boardman township, occurred last Saturday.
He was born May 11, 1913, and died on his birthday at the age of five years. He had been sick at different times for about a month, but always seemed to recover until last week, when he failed, and on the last day pneumonia set in. In spite of all medical care and tender watching the silent death angel took him.
He was always a delicate child and this misfortune made him more loved by all who came in contact with him. His was a sweet and lovable disposition, he was very grateful for attention and care, and even when lying at death's door, if asked he was he would say, "Oh, fine."
Besides his mother and father, he leaves five sisters and a brother to mourn his sweet voice and gentle disposition. They are Mary, Ella, Lester, Anna, Helen and Katie. One sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church on Monday, Rev. J. P. Taken performing the funeral rites. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
