Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 28 Mar. 1918.

Maud Inez Anderson, nee Tyler, was born at Elkader, Iowa, February 16, 1876, and died at her home in the same town on March 24, 1918, at 2:00p.m., aged 42 years, 1 month and 18 days.

The deceased lived in Elkader all her life, being the daughter of Lyman and Delilia Tyler, long time residents of this place. Her father and only brother, Henry, preceded her in death some years ago. She was graduated from the Elkader high school, was for several years an employee at the REGISTER, later going to school and graduating from the Wisconsin Business University of LaCrosse as a typewriter and stenographer. She was very competent in this line of work, and for a long time held a position with the law firm of R.E. & V.T. Price of this town. At the time of her death she was bookkeeper and stenographer for the Floete Lumber Company of Elkader.

She was married to Gerhard Anderson at her home in Elkader Oct. 15, 1908, and to this union one child was born - Esther. Therefore the immediate relatives who survive her are her husband, daughter and her aged mother, with whom she and her family have made their home.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Elkader Congregational Sunday school and a charter member of Hazel Valley Rebecca Lodge No. 466, I.O.O.F.

The out-of-town relatives who were present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whitcomb, of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Park, of Fairmont, Minn.; Herman Hendershot, of Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Munger, of Strawberry Point; and Mrs. H. L. Tyler and daughter, Ferol, of St. Paul, Minn.

The cause of Mrs. Anderson's death was complications resulting from an attack of scarlet fever. She had been quarantined with her daughter, who was suffering from the disease, and contracted the disease, her condition becoming worse as time passed. About a week before her death occurred a nurse had been secured from Dubuque to take care of her, and all that the best medical care and loving hands could do was performed.

The funeral was held at one o'clock on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 27, Rev. Isaac Cassel, her pastor, conducting the services. Interment was in the family lot in East Side cemetery.
