Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 28 Mar. 1918. (Special Garnavillo Correspondence.)

The community was shocked by the drowning of Herman Fehlhafer and John Seidel, while fishing in Sni MaGill on Sunday. The party consisting of Mr. Fehlhafer, Mr. Seidel and his brother, John, and three Bass boys were in a boat which capsized, throwing them into the water. The Bass brothers and John Seidel were able to get to shore but the other two lost their lives. The bodies were recovered sometime later but life was extinct. Funeral services were held on Wednesday. Mr. Seidel's in the forenoon and that of Mr. Fehlhafer at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
