Mrs. Elizabeth Barnum, of St. Olaf, whose death occurred there on Sunday, will be buried from the Congregational church at Elkader Saturday, at 1:00 o'clock. She was an aunt to George Bachtell, late of this place. Her daughter, Mrs. Henry Vaupel, of Ashland, Ore., was called home. The death occurred at the home of Mrs. Barnum's son Harry.

Mrs. Elizabeth Barnum was born in Chester county, Pennsylvania, Sept. 12, 1843, and died at her home in St. Olaf, Iowa, Jan. 20, 1918, aged 74 years, 4 months and 8 days.
She came to Iowa with her parents at an early age and had lived here since. She was married to Hiram Barnum in 1862, to which union three children were born, Mrs. T. H. Balman, who preceded her in death twenty-four years ago; Harry, whose home is in St. Olaf; and Mrs. C. H. Vaupel, of Ashland, Oregon. Four grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive, besides a brother and two sisters.
The funeral was held at the St. Olaf residence at 10:30 a.m., Jan. 26th, and at 1:00 p.m., at the Congregational church in Elkader, Rev. A. H. Franke was the officiating clergyman. Burial was in East Side cemetery.
