David Leonard McGill was born in Toronto, Canada, Dec. 17, 1844. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John McGill. Died at his home Dec. 26, 1917, aged 73 years and 09 days, after a short illness of six days. He spent his boyhood days in Toronto, coming to the U.S. in the early 70's. He spent some years in Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado, coming to McGregor in 1884, and was married to Milfred A. Crawford, Oct. 12, 1884. One son, Leo C., was born to this union, the mother dying in Dec. 1889. He was married to Caroline Wetzel, Feb. 01, 1892, of this union one son, Ray W., was born. These and seven grandchildren are the only near relatives, with the exception of two brothers and one sister who lives in Canada. Though Mr. McGill's father was a minister, David never took an active part in church work. The end was peaceful and he passed aaway with little suffering.

The funeral was held at the McGill home on Moody Hill, Saturday, Dec. 29th, conducted by Rev. Alex. E. Cutler.

(Note: WPA records indicate David McGill, 1845 - 1917, buried in Pleasant Grove cemetery.)
