Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 10 Jan. 1918. Volga column.
Charles H. Adams was born in Volga, July 30, 1858, and passed away Jan. 5, 1918, at the age of 59 years, five months and six days. He was married to Violetta McKinney, Oct. 19th, 1879. To this union were born six children, all living except the youngest, who died four ears ago at the age of seventeen years. The surviving children are, Mrs. Elsie Upton, of Volga; Mrs. Etta Au__im, of Clayton; David W., of Edgewood; Walter F., of Volga; and Mrs. Phoebe Burts, of Clayton, who were all at his bedside when he passed away. He leaves two brothers and two sisters: J, J. Adams, of Strawberry Point; and D. L. Adams, of Volga; Mrs. Susan Halt, of Lamar, Neb., and Mrs. Jennie Hulderson, of Oregon City, Oregon. The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church, Volga, Monday afternoon, at 2:30, Rev. R. Roberts, of Coggon, Iowa, officiating. We extend to the bereaved family our sincerest sympathy and pray that God may give them strength and quiet and that, after the first bitterness of grief is past, may they not forget Him whose promises are faithful and true. That He will never leave them nor forsake them that like as a father pitieth his children so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him. In the life of the deceased there were many good qualities.
