Herman Meyer died Saturday, Dec. 29, 1917, at 5 p.m., aged 47 years, 4 months and 22 days. He was born on the old home farm one mile north of Osborne on Aug. 7th, 1870.

Mr. Meyer lived on the farm on which he was born and the one that he afterward owned all his life, having moved to his later home in 1899 - eighteen years ago.

Ill health, noticeable after his first illness five years ago - became apparent about a year ago. His last illness overtook him Monday, Dec. 24, lasting only five days and ending in blood poisoning.

He was married to Maria Lindemann at her home in Elkader July 25, 1900, and to them were born eight children, who with their mother survive him. They are Nora, Christiana, Arthur, Joseph, Herman, Carl, Allen and Mary. Besides these, his mother, four sisters - Mary and Emma at home in Elkader, Mrs. A. A. Dohrer and Mrs. W. J. Burgholzer of Chicago, are bereaved by his death. Four brothers also survive and mourn for him, namely, Frank, Nunica, Mich.; Charles, Armour, S.D., August, Roundup, Mont., and Joseph of Des Moines, besides other relatives.

Mr. Meyer was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, but was affiliated with no other organization.

All of his relatives were at the funeral except Mrs. Burgholzer and August of Roundup.

The funeral was held at the Ev. Frieden's church in Elkader on Wednesday, Jan. 2, Rev. C. H. Franke officiating. Interment was in East Side cemetery.
