Alice Louise Boyes, 96, of Garnavillo died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at her residence in Garnavillo. Alice was born August 2, 1921 in Dubuque, Iowa. She was the daughter of Otto and Edna Freeman Henker. Alice was baptized on August 4, 1921 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Dubuque and was confirm in May of 1934. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1940 and then attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque.

On July 29, 1943 she was united in marriage with Glenn Boyes at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Dubuque. Alice worked in the office of Sunbeam Bread in Dubuque from 1942 to 1947. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.

She is survived by one son, Jeffery (Martha) Boyes of Clear Lake, Iowa, one daughter, Lisa Boyes of Grinnell, Iowa; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Kris Bierbaum of South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Robert in infancy; her husband Glenn in 2003; one sister, Elizabeth Henker and a daughter, Linda Bierbaum.

There are no services planned.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Elkader, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
