Mary Ann Ernster, age 91, of Guttenberg, IA, died Friday, September 10, 2021, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. Mary was born on May 10, 1930 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy Terpstra.

She graduated from Aquinas High School in LaCrosse Wisconsin in 1948 and married Robert Ernster on June 28, 1952. They enjoyed 54 years of Marriage!

Mary was a loving and gentle woman who always shared a smile and a kind word. She had a wonderful sense of humor and possessed a quiet strength that was an inspiration to her family. Her greatest legacy is her family and home. Mary loved her family dearly and nourished them with her love, guidance and home cooking. She was a fabulous cook and baker. There was always something warm from the oven at Mary’s house and friends and family were always welcome. She loved pretty things especially flowers and always decorated her home for the seasons and holidays. Mary had a deep faith and a rich prayer life and was never without her Rosary. Her faith was a constant source of strength. One of Mary’s greatest gifts to her family are her family journals. She was the family historian and kept a daily record of her family’s activities from 1963 to the present. Mary was deeply loved by her family and will be sadly missed.

Mary Ann entered heaven ahead of her 4 children, Barbara (Steve) Hansel, Susan (Bob) Lindahl, Mark (Gay) Ernster & Michael (Kristin) Ernster; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert in 2006; 1 sister, Doris Lepsch & 1 brother, Gene Terpstra.
