Peter Zahn died at his home, Monday evening, Dec. 10. He had been ailing for some months, but not until recently had his condition seemed serious.
Peter Zahn was born in Baden, Germany, February 27, 1863, being 54 years, 9 months and 13 days old at the time of his death. In 1885 he came to America, locating in St. Paul, Minn. Three years later he came to McGregor, where he has since resided. On February 20, 1890, he was married to Mary Walter and five children were born to them, one dying in infancy. The four remaining are: Marguerite, Mrs. Carl Miller; Meda M.; Walter J. and Carolyn, Mrs. Harry Miller. Besides these he is survived by his widow, his mother-in-law, Mrs. John Walter, Sr., three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was a member of the M.W.A. and B.A.Y. Lodges.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, Rev. Alex Cutler of the Congregational church officiating. Mrs. D. G. Benjamin sang two of his favorite German hymns.
