Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 08 Nov. 1917. North McGregor column.

James Bohan was born at Cincinnati, Ohio in the year 1857. Died October 13, 1917.

When a child he came with his parents to the west as it was then called, settling in Allamakee county, then moving to the farm on Pleasant Ridge.

When he was a young man, he went to Chicago, where he worked on the railroad until called home by illness of his mother. Since then he lived on the farm, where he enjoyed all the advantages of a good home, and where, with his sister Anna, they kept the home together after the passing of their parents.

Mr. Bohan was a genial, good neighbor, with a kindly greeting for everyone, and esteemed by all who knew him. He lived the life of true friendship, believing that to be a real friend and neighbor brought to him the great comfort of being able to do good to all about him.

He had been in ill health for some time, and was taken to the Clark hospital at McGregor, where early on the morning of October 13, he passed into the sleep that knows no awakening, passing away in the close faith of his church.

The funeral services were held at St. Mary's church on Sunday morning. Father Horsefeldt officiating at the last rites. Interment in St. Mary's cemetery.

Mr. Bohan was preceded in death by three sisters: Margaret, who died when a child, Mary, and Mrs. Kathryn Mathews. One sister and three brothers survive him: Miss Anna Bohan, at home; Thomas, of Duluth; Patrick, of Waukon Junction; and Lawrence, of Canada.

The pall bearers were A.B. Hahn, Christ Wingen, Peter Dahmen, J.J. Burke, Will Trewin, Joe Connell.

Card of Thanks
