Fred Baade was born April 26, 1876, in Wagner township, the son of Jochen and Dora Baade. On Feb. 26, 1902, he was married to Miss Adele Buck. Three children were born to this happy union, Floyd, Jason and Dorris. Those left to mourn his death are his sorrowful, grief stricken wife; two sons, Floyd and Jason; and one daughter, Dorris; the aged mother, Mrs. J. Baade; brothers Will, John, Herman and Louis; sisters Dortha, Mrs. Fritz Klasen, Mary, Mrs. Will Eggers; one sister, Ida, Mrs. Henry Jakob, preceded him in death.

Mr. Baade was taken sick with appendicitis Sept. 25th and was operated on at Prairie du Chien on Sept. 28th and died October 8th, aged 41 years, 5 months and 12 days. The body was brought to Farmersburg Monday afternoon and the funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Lutheran church by Rev. F. Braun and were very largely attended. Interment was in the cemetery at Garnavillo.
