Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 20 Sept. 1917.

Andrew Schauer, of North McGregor, an engineer on the C.M. & St. P. railway, died early Monday morning at the McGregor hospital as a result of injuries received when he jumped from a cab of the passenger train engine early last Tuesday morning, near Clayton. He lost consciousness after the jump and succumbed without regaining his senses.
