Adolph Katschkowsky was born on the 29th day of October, 1854, in Gros Ottlan, Germany, and died July 31, 1917, at the age of 63 years, 9 months and 2 days.
He landed in New York on his eighteenth birthday - October 29, 1872, going first to Cleveland, Ohio, where he lived a few years. After his mother came to America, the family moved to Elkport, Iowa, where the mother died. Mr. Katschkowsky then moved to Elkader where he spent the remainder of his life.
On June 15th, 1879, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Musfeldt. He is survived by his faithful companion and three daughters, Mrs. Henry Totty, of Independence, Mo., Vina and Freda, both at home, and two sons, (names of which and their locations at the death of their father were missing from this article). A half-sister, Mrs. T. Scheer, of Dubuque, and his half-brother, Emil Muschewske, of Colton, Cal., survive him. His brother, Herman, died June 19, 1916, and a half-sister, Mrs. Lena Moran, died a few years ago.
Mr. Katschkowsky had been a sufferer from rheumatism since his twelfth year, and had been helpless from this disease for the past nine years, which was also the cause of death.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3, at the Ev. Frieden's church, Rev. C. H. Franke officiating.
Burial will be at the Eastside cemetery in Elkader.
