Bernard Kuhl died at his residence Saturday, Nov. 27, at 4 p.m., of pneumonia and heart failure, at the age of 89 years and 4 months. He enjoyed good health until taken ill Thursday evening. Deceased was born in Soegel, Hanover, Germany, July 27, 1820, and came to America in 1845. He was married at St. Louis, Mo., to Catherine Himmerman, February 10, 1847, and in 1855 they came to Guttenberg. To them seven children were born, of whom four died in infancy and Lizzie, wife of Frank Naber, died at New Vienna, in 1876, and John H. and Mary are left to mourn the loss of a kind and Christian father. Mrs. Kuhl died July 20, 1899. He also leaves two grandchildren, Bernard Naber, at New Vienna, and Hy. Naber, at Springfield, Mo., besides eight great-great grandchildren. He followed the carpenter trade until about twenty years ago. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church Tuesday morning at nine o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. H. Brinkmann. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
