Emaline Eurela Merdick was born in Joe Davis county, Ill., Nov. 4th, 1846, and died in Volga City, Iowa, May 18th, 1909, aged 62 years, 6 months and 14 days. She came to Iowa in 1861 and settled in Clayton county. She was married to Myron Lampier in 1862, and to this union five children were born. Two died in infancy and Mrs. Nellie Robbins, the youngest and wife of James H. Robbins, of Volga, is the only one now living. Ena Yearous, who died ten years ago, was the eldest, and Mrs. Lizzie Horton, the second, died in 1908 in North Carolina. Mrs. Lampier was a member of the M.E. church of Volga for over thirty-five years and has always been a good and faithful member, always a good and consistent christian and one of the head workers in the Sunday School as long as her health would permit her to be there. She was the infant class teacher for many years and was always there and had great interest in her work. She was a kind and indulgent mother and a good and faithful friend and neighbor. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, one daughter, and seven grandchildren. Only two cousins living, one in Viroqua, Wis., and one in Vermillion, S.D.
