Mrs. Adam Rau died at her home at Prairie du Chien March 22nd, 1909, aged eighty-four years. She leaves to mourn her demise a husband, two sons and one daughter, John Kluth, Wm. Kluth, Mrs. Schrank, of South Dakota, and Chas. Kluth, of South Dakota. The funeral services were held here Thursday at 11:00 o'clock at the German church conducted by Rev. Gadow. Burial in the Clayton Center cemetery.

Names his parents as Maria (Landem) & Carl Kluth, siblings William & Mrs. Schrauk of S.D. He was born & baptized in Clayton Center.- From the McGregor News, Wednesday, April 23, 1902 (Farmersburg column):
Prairie du Chien, Wis., April 19 - Adam Rau, aged 68 years of this city, and Mary Ruth*, aged 72 years, of Farmersburg, Iowa, were married in this city last evening. They are the oldest people to apply for a marriage license in this county since the marriage license was enacted. - Dubuque Times.*I believe the name RUTH is an error and should be Kluth.
