Mr. John J. Kluth, son of Carl Kluth and his wife Maria, nee Landem, was born February 9, 1863, in Read township and was baptized and confirmed at Clayton Center by Rev. Seifert. At the age of four years he moved with his parents to Farmersburg township on the place where his daughter Minnie now lives. On September 4th 1885, he was united in marriage to Minnie Baade. The young couple moved to the farm which he purchased. This union was blessed with 8 children, of which three died in infancy. Those living are Caroline, Mrs. Gustav Tielbar of Farmersburg township; Elta, Mrs. Fred Tielbar of Farmersburg township; Minnie, Mrs. Fritze Mueller of Farmersburg township; Amanda, Mrs. Marvin Mueller of Farmersburg township; John A. Kluth, married to Alice Glawe, now living on the home place in Farmersburg township.

Those who are left to mourn are: his wife, Mrs. John Kluth, and five children, twelve grandchildren, one brother, Wm. Kluth of Elkader, and one sister Mrs. August Schrauk, Corsica, South Dakota, besides many other relatives and friends.

In the year 1925 he and his wife moved to Farmersburg, where he spent the rest of his life. He was never sick nor never complained until January 24, 1927, at 3:30 a.m., he awoke and said he had pain in his side and at 4:30 he passed away at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 15 days.

The funeral was held at St John's Lutheran church at Garnavillo, Rev. K. Wm. Braun officiating. Burial was at Farmersburg cemetery.

Oh, this would be heaven
If we could hear your voice again,
Sometime, somewhere our hands will
clasp his
And we'll never say farewell."
