Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 18 Mar. 1909.

Mrs. Sophia Marie Johnana Kieckbusch died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lena Moser, at Osterdock, Monday, March 8th, at 1:00 p.m., aged 79 years, 6 months and 9 days. She had been ailing for about a year from an attack of grippe and was confined to her bed about four weeks preceding her demise.

Deceased was born in Germany August 29, 1829, and was married to John Carl William Kieckbusch in 1855. Both came to Clayton County in 1868 and lived on farms in Mallory and Millville townships near Ceres. Her husband died in 1892. She is mourned by seven children, thirty-five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The surviving children are J. C., and Mrs. Lena Moser, of Osterdock; Charles, of Millville; Fred in Alaska; Mrs. Minnie Riegel and Mrs. Mary Schaar, of Fairfield, Wash., and William, of Guttenberg. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Janzig Wednesday afternoon. Interment was made in the Dittmer cemetery southwest of Guttenberg.
