After a short illness Christian Lahrs passed away last Friday night at his home in Read township, in the 63rd year of his age.

He was born in Germany, on Sept. 10th, 1846, and was a soldier in the Franco Prussian war but came to the United States soon after its close.

Frederica Kruse and Christ Lahrs were united in marriage in their native land and to them were born seven children who are all living, as follows: Chas. Lahrs, Mrs. August Wilke, Mrs. Julius Heins, of Luana, F. W. Lahrs, of Read, Mrs. Fred Wilke and Alma and John at home. Deceased is also survived by his wife and other relatives who mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. He held a policy in Elkader Homestead No. 269 B.A.Y. and his family will obtain the benefit of it.

Funeral services were held in Clayton Center, Monday, Rev. Berghard officiating. Peace to his soul is the devout wish of all.
