William Sloan was born in Highland township, Clayton county, Ia., August 22, 1865, and died Nov. 8, 1934 at the age of 69 years, three months and 16 days.
He was the son of William and Margaret Sloan. The early part of his life was spent on the old home farm. Afterward he moved to his present home north of Lima. He was united in marriage to Virginia Belle Kulmes of Lima, who preceded him in death a few months ago. To this union was born one son, who died in infancy. In later years they adopted Bernice, now Mrs. Hardy Borland, as their daughter.
Mr. Sloan was a member of the Lima Union church.
He leaves to mourn his death one daughter, Mrs. Hardy Borland of Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren, one brother, Sam; and one sister, Lena of Volga, besides other relatives and hosts of friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 9th, in the Lima Union church at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Edward Fiske of Volga officiated at the church and graveside.
